HERE FOR GOOD

CREATING UNIQUE COFFEE TOGETHER

Yuni Coffee Co. is all about creating sustainable income opportunities for farmers in rural Northern Laos (Houaphan Province). We're doing this by promoting coffee cultivation for the specialty coffee market. This way, families can stay in their home villages and thrive without having to leave for the city.

'Yuni' means 'here' in Lao, and we believe in healthy growth and development for everyone right in their own communities. Together, we're here for good.

Discover the Artisanal Charm of Laotian Coffee

Nestled in Southeast Asia, Laos boasts a unique terroir that's a treasure trove for coffee enthusiasts. The country's rich history with coffee, dating back to the French colonial era, has culminated in a burgeoning industry celebrated for its quality and flavor. Here's why Laos is an ideal locale for growing some of the world's most exquisite coffee:

  • The Bolaven Plateau: The heartland of Laotian coffee, this highland area is renowned for its volcanic soil, which is both fertile and mineral-rich, providing an exceptional environment for coffee cultivation. At altitudes over 1,000 meters, the climate is cool and damp, perfect for nurturing robust and aromatic coffee cherries

  • Sustainable Practices: The coffee farms in Laos often employ organic and traditional methods, fostering biodiversity and minimizing environmental impact. This approach not only preserves the natural landscape but also enhances the coffee's taste profile, offering consumers a truly sustainable cup.

  • Cultural Richness: Beyond the beans, coffee in Laos is woven into the fabric of daily life, reflecting a culture that cherishes quality and community. The experience of Laotian coffee is not just about the drink but about connecting with a heritage of craftsmanship.

  • Emerging Specialty Scene: As peace and stability have returned to the region, Laos is on the cusp of becoming a specialty coffee producer, with farmers and cooperatives increasingly recognized for their dedication to quality, contributing to the global appreciation of Laotian coffee.

Laotian farmers, managers, processors, and baristas work tirelessly each day to craft high-quality coffee. Their unwavering commitment is the driving force behind our success. Every employee and farmer contributes to the remarkable results we achieve.
